The Mini Purse

Pattern by: Kaitlyn

Materials:

  • K or 6.5mm crochet hook
  • 2 skeins worsted weight yarn
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

Let’s get started…

  1. ch 40, sl st in the 20th ch from the hook
  2. ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st in the first hdc
  3. ch 2, dc in each st around sl st in the first dc
  4. repeat steps 2-3 for 7 more rounds, ending with a hdc round
  5. ch 2, dc for 22 (ch 2 counts as one st)
  6. ch 1, turn, hdc back across the row
  7. ch 2, turn, dc across the row
  8. ch 1, turn, skip next st, hdc in the next st, hdc across the row, skip 2nd to last st, hdc in last st
  9. ch 2, turn, skip next st, dc in the next 8 sts, ch 1 for button (adjust for size of button), skip 1 sts, dc in the next st, dc in the next 6 sts
  10. ch 1, turn, skip next st, hdc in the next 7 sts, 1 hdc in button hole (hdc in the hole as many sts as you chained for the button hole), hdc in the next 6 sts acrossm skip the next sts, hdc in the last st
  11. fasten off and weave in any ends
  12. turn the pure inside out, join yarn to the bottom corner of the purse sl st the two sides together, fasten off and weave in ends
  13. flip inside out again and sew on the button
  14. sew on the handle (instructions for the handle below)

 

Here’s the pattern I wrote for the handle…

  1. leaving a long tail, ch the length of the handle, ch 2 more
  2. hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across (you can also use sc for a thinner strap
