Amigurumi Tooth

Pattern by: Kaitlyn

Hey readers, guess what! I’m getting my braces off today!! Woo hoo! So to celebrate, I thought I’d whip up a tooth pattern to share with you! Seems fitting, right? So here it is:

Materials:

  • DK weight yarn
  • G/6 or 4.25mm crochet hook
  • scissors
  • yarn needle
  • 2 buttons (for the eyes)
  • needle and thread (to sew on buttons)
  • red embroidery thread
  • stuffing

Let’s get started…

First we’ll work on the bottom part of the tooth, called the “root.”  (make 2)

  1. ch 2
  2. 10 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to first hdc  (10 sts)
  3. ch 1, hdc around, sl st to first hdc  (10 sts)
  4. ch1, *hdc 4, 2 hdc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to first hdc  (12)
  5. ch 1, hdc around, sl st to first hdc  (12)
  6. fasten off and weave in ends(do not fast off on 2nd “cup”)
  7. once 1st and 2nd “cups” are made, hold them together and sl st 5, do not fasten off

Now for the main part of the tooth, or the “crown.”

  1. ch 1, hdc evenly around the “cups,”  sl st to first hdc  (I had 18 sts; your sts may be different, that’s okay)
  2. ch 1, hdc around, sl st to first hdc
  3. repeat step 2 for 5 more rows
  4. fasten off leaving a long tail
  5. stuff tooth
  6. thread fastening off tail through your yarn needle, weave it through the opening of the crown like a drawstring, pull to close opening, poke needle through the center and down through the bottom of the tooth to draw the top of the tooth down a little, tie off the yarn at the bottom of the tooth and weave in some of the extra tail, trim any extra

Sew on the eyes, embroider the mouth, and you’re tooth is done! You can use this tooth as a great gift for someone who just lost their first tooth, got their braces off, grew their first adult/baby tooth, etc. Just make sure the eyes are securely sewn on before you give the tooth to a baby!

If you have any questions or comments concerning this pattern, or if you need any assistance, please leave a comment below! Here is a picture of my tooth:
